Alcoholic Beverages Permits and Renewals

General Information

This information is provided to assist individuals interested in obtaining or renewing a Texas alcoholic beverage license. Permits and regulation is provided through the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC).

HOW DOES MY APPLICATION GET PROCESSED?
New applications must be processed by the TABC.

WHEN DO I GET MY PERMIT?

Once TABC has completely processed your application you will receive, by mail, the original permit which must be displayed in plain view on the premises selling the alcohol beverages.

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE PERMIT?
The type of permit you are getting determines the amount of cost so please contact TABC at (512) 451-0231.

HOW DOES MY NEW PERMIT APPLICATION OR MY RENEWAL GET PROCESSED?
An application for a new permit and renewals must be processed by TABC. The County will send an invoice for the County fees once you renew with TABC.


Beer and Wine Renewals

WHEN CAN I RENEW A BEER & WINE PERMIT?
This type of permit cannot be renewed more than 30 days in advance of the expiration date. A late fee in the amount of $100 will be added if you renew between the 1st and 30th day following the renew date.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT RENEW A PERMIT?
If you fail to renew your permit within 30 days following your expiration date, then you will be required to cease selling alcoholic beverages and you must re-file an application with TABC.

Collection of County Fees Other than Beer - Section 11.38

The Alcoholic Beverage Code allows the Commissioner's Court to collect a fee not to exceed one-half of the State Fees paid to TABCs for permits issued in that county.

The surcharges mandated by this legislation are not subject to local fees as authorized by
Section 11.38.

TABC will NOT collect these fees.
The collection of the fees authorized by 61.36 is the responsibility of each county.

It is the responsibility of the applicant/licensee/permitee to pay any fees due directy to the county.

Collection of County Fees for Beer - Section 61.36

The commissioners' court of a county may levy and collect a fee equal to one-half the State Fees Paid to TABC for each license, except a temporary or agent's beer license, issued for premises located within the county. The chart below lists those types of licenses/permits.

The surcharges mandated by this legislation are not subject to local fees as authorized by Section 61.36.
TABC will NOT collect these fees.
